One room done, two more to go...

We are in the process of changing all the rooms downstairs around. We have three rooms down there. One is the big room at the back that is our family room. It used to consist of a big round black chair, a couch, the entertainment unit, 2 bookcases, a desk and a crapload of toys. Another room was our guest room (bed, dresser, two night tables and a book case). Lastly was our craft/sewing/study/exercise room. It had 3 bookcases, a huge corner desk, another desk and a treadmill. Our plan is to have a family room with our new sectional sofa, treadmill, one bookcase and the train table. We are changing the guest room into a playroom and moving the guest bed into the sewing/craft room. We don't need a room that is exclusively a guest room. When my family comes to visit they stay at my parent's condo in Victoria, so our guest room was only being used once or twice a year when Brian's family comes to visit. The sewing/craft/guest room will have the double bed, one night table, 4 book cases, one small desk and a filing cabinet.

Lots of furniture, little space. That's our problem.

BUT the play room is DONE!!! The sewing/craft/guest room looks like it belongs on that show 'Hoarders' because all the 'stuff' from all three rooms has been shoved in there. Just open the door, throw, and quickly close the door! That's going to be my project for the next week or two. The family room is almost done but there are still some things that need finishing.

The green board is a magnetic chalkboard. The metal is some random extra metal sheet we had at work; a cover for a machine or something. We painted it with chalkboard paint and added a plastic frame. The black fabric looking thing is a mirror with a black curtain in front of it. The kids can play peek-a-boo with themselves.

The box in this photo looks tiny! It is actually quite big. We got it at Christmas 2008 and Jackson has loved playing in it ever since, lol. The frames on the wall will hold the kid's artwork. I will probably change it up every once in a while. Jackson was so excited when I framed his first painting.

The things all over the wall are removable alphabet decals. Since these photos were taken I have also added number decals. I like how crazy the walls look with them stuck all over them.

I was so excited for Jackson to finally see his playroom. He hadn't seen the room since we had cleared everything out and it was a big empty room. I imagined his head exploding from the sheer excitement of having a room dedicated to his toys and fun. He was pretty excited, but just found these two toys right away and sat down to play with them. Barely even glanced up while I showed him the mirror or chalkboard. A lot of the toys were ones that he had received for Christmas and I put them away until the room was done. So the room was new along with a lot of the toys. I think he liked it, lol!

Once we finish the other rooms I'll try to remember to post photos of them too. They aren't going to be as 'fun' as the playroom, but I can't wait to just be DONE with this reorganizing!
