Park #1 - Cecelia Park Playground
This park was a lot of fun. It was in a bit of a questionable area of town (we are allowed to say that, we used to live in the neighbourhood) but seems to have been recently remodeled. It had a very new feeling to it. There were two climbing structures, each with tons of features, and plenty of swings. It kept the kids very occupied and was hard to get them to leave!
This park has awesome climbing structures! The slide on the structure on the right is SUPER high, but even Lexi went down it (she's normally a bit afraid of slides). Very fun!
Seriously, look at how high this slide is! Yes, I am standing.

This park was a cute little park with some fun touches that most parks don't have. There were two climbing structures, plenty of swings, a funny (big!) frog to climb on, a car, a wall with a tightrope, and a spinner bowl. Plenty to do!!
This structure is the 'big kid' structure and it is very cute! It is supposed to be a treehouse and has 4 different ways to climb up it including tree stumps. Very neat. There is also a little squirrel hiding in the base and a raccoon peeking out of a hole in the tree.

This is the smaller kid's structure. The kids didn't care about it too much. But the swings are always a big hit!
Lexi was actually a little freaked out by the frog. She had no idea what to think about it, even after I patted it showing her it was not real. I mean, I know Vancouver Island grows spiders and slugs really big, but this frog is pushing it!!
Jackson loves these climbing cars. He doesn't actually climb all over it, but he loves to pretend to drive it. Quite a few parks have these and he usually spends a large amount of time playing in them.
Park #3 - Pirate Ship Park
This park is actually in Sooke but we never go to it. It's a small neighbourhood park with only one feature. But come on! The one feature is a Pirate ship!! Can it get any better than that? I'm not sure when the park was built but it is sadly in need of a little TLC. The structure is in the middle of some trees so there were leaves all over it, making it just seem dirty. Plus there were lots of cobwebs (but I did not see any spiders). It really made me want to come back with a broom and a bucket of hot soapy water. Anyways, neurosis aside, it was a great park! Both kids loved it and Lexi got to practice her ladder climbing skills since that was the only way up to the top of the ship.

The ship is at the back end of the lot. These rocks are right at the entry and Brian and Jackson had to climb up the top so that they could be kings of the castle. Not to be outdone, Lexi screamed until we put her up there too.
Park #4 - Montreal and Niagara Park
I couldn't find an actual name for this park. It's in James Bay so after stopping by the condo for a popsicle we made our way to this park. It's a small neighbourhood park, but the kids loved it. There was a fun climbing structure, plenty of swings and a huge sandbox! Apparently there used to be a lot of sandbox toys left there but the city removed them all a while back because of a 'safety concern'. Too bad because we didn't bring our own!
This was the first park of the day today and it was a hit! Lexi could even climb on the majority of things!
This bridge was fun for the kids to run down to each other.
Park #5 - Memorial Playground Park
This park is in the heart of Esquimalt. I believe at one time it was an awesome park, but now it just seems a little sad to me. It's huge, with tons of things to do, but it just looks a little outdated and neglected. But it's not my opinion that matters as much as the kids, and they both had a lot of fun. Lexi was tired by this point so I'm not sure how much she liked it, she seemed rather bored of the toddler area, but they both liked the ship. That's right, another park with a giant ship, lol!
This is the sad, outdated older kids climbing structure. The red tunnel had graffiti tags on it and the plastic was very sun faded. And the metal slide was HOT! But Jackson seemed to like it well enough.
Jackson really wants to figure out how to do these bars. But he has the attention span of a gnat at a park, so he won't listen to us when we try to teach him. But today, I saw him watching another kid do it and then he gave it another try and sort of swung one arm to the next bar. Then fell. But he tried!
Awesome. Just awesome.
This is an example of the spinner bowl. The kid sits in it and you spin them around. I think it's just as much a toy for the parent's amusement since you get to spin your kid and then watch them fall over trying to walk in a straight line afterwards. But the kids love these seats!
